New York SHIELD Act – Everything You Need To Know
January 22 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Will you be ready for the New York SHIELD Act, the latest cyber security regulation, by March 2020?
Last July, New York passed its sweeping new Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security Act (the SHIELD Act). The SHIELD Act expanded the reach of New York’s data breach notification law and created security requirements for any business or entity holding the sensitive data of a New York resident.
For organizations in regulated industries, such as health care or financial services, this presentation will specifically address the scope and limits of the SHIELD Act’s carve-out for entities in compliance with regulatory regimes such as the HIPAA Security Rue, 23 N.Y.C.R.R. Part 500, or the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
This presentation will also look ahead to other regulatory developments in the horizon, such as the potential for a new, New York Privacy Act in 2020, and the effect of the California Consumer Privacy Act on organizations in New York.
